Our topic for the Autumn Term is
'Escape to the Chateau'
We will be focussing on The Tudors
We will be stepping back in time to explore the fascinating world of the Tudors. Pupils will investigate what life was like for both rich and poor during this period, comparing it to their own lives today. They will learn about the distinctive features of Tudor times, including castles, palaces, fashion, food, religion, and the role of powerful monarchs such as Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. As historians, the children will consider how events in Tudor times affected communities in Wales and beyond, and how these causes and consequences continue to shape our lives. We will also explore how identity and diversity were influenced by Tudor society, thinking carefully about how people’s beliefs, experiences, and opportunities differed. Alongside this, pupils will develop an understanding of how communities are governed, both in the past and in the present, and will make connections between Wales and the wider world. This topic will give learners the chance to develop their enquiry skills, compare societies across history, and reflect on how the past helps us to understand our communities today.
In Dosbarth Merlin, we always start our topic by discussing the topic title and thinking about what it means to us
within the six Areas of Learning Experience.

In Dosbarth Merlin we have three dragons Dafydd, Bryn and Carys. Each week during our Seren Yr Wythnos assembly pupils who have tried hard to speak Welsh during the week are awarded by receiving a certificate and taking home one of our dragons.
Their challenge is to write a short paragraph about themselves - 'Dyma fi' and send a video to Miss Newell of them reading it.
