Class Topics
Each term we have a new topic to explore. The topics will cover the 6 Areas of Learning Experience.
These are:

Spring Term Overview
Our topic for the Spring term is 'Community Explorers' and our focus for this will be Pentwynmawr village.
We will exploring the local environment and teaching children about the different features of a village and the different jobs that people have in the community. Pupils will begin to identify places that are special to them and talk about environmental issues that impact our local area. We will compare the village of Pentwynmawr with contrasting areas in South Wales e.g. towns, cities and coastal areas developing their awareness of similarities and differences between places in Wales.
Autumn Term Overview
Our topic for the Autumn term is 'Diversity and Dreams' and our focus for this will be our families.
We will be exploring changes over time in our families and the
community and exploring diversity through celebrations and festivals.
The topic develops children’s knowledge and appreciation of local history, special memories, customs and traditions, and growing up.
Home Learning Tasks
Reading books and Home Learning tasks (where appropriate) will be given out on a Friday and are to be returned by the following Wednesday - unless specified otherwise.
