Curriculum
Curriculum for Wales
The Curriculum for Wales aims to enthuse learners from 3 to 16, giving them the foundations they need to succeed in a changing world.
The 4 Purposes:
The Welsh Assembly Government states that the Four Purposes are ‘the starting point and aspiration for every child and young person in Wales’ and that each school should develop its 'own curriculum, enabling their learners to develop towards the four purposes of the curriculum.'
Therefore, these Four Purposes are the overarching umbrella for our new curriculum at Pentwynmawr Primary.
They are:
Ambitious, Capable Learners
Enterprising, Creative Contributors
Ethical, Informed Citizens
Healthy, Confident Individuals
The Areas of Learning and Experiences:
The Curriculum for Wales consists of 6 AoLE's which will be covered across the school. These are:
Humanities
Expressive Arts
Languages, Literacy and Communication
Science and Technology
Maths and Numeracy
Health and Wellbeing
All the learning at Pentwynmawr Primary School begins with the pupils' ideas. Teaching and learning is then based on what the children know and want to find out, making our curriculum at Pentwynmawr Primary School unique and inclusive of all.
